Terms of Service

Effective May 26, 2026

This is the agreement between you and TextCalc. It is deliberately short. Read it quickly, then get back to writing.

What TextCalc is

TextCalc is a native iPhone and iPad app for taking notes that contain inline math, unit conversions, variables, currency conversions, checklists, and Markdown. It is distributed exclusively through the Apple App Store. It is not affiliated with Apple Inc.

Free tier

TextCalc is free to use with no account. The free tier allows one note with the live calculator (arithmetic and variables) in plain text. Unlimited notes, Markdown, currency conversion, image, sketch and voice attachments, and Apple Intelligence writing tools are gated behind the one-time TextCalc Pro purchase.

Purchases

TextCalc Pro is a one-time, non-consumable in-app purchase for $5.99 (US). It is not a subscription. Once purchased, it remains unlocked for every device signed into the same Apple ID and supports Family Sharing.

All purchases are processed by Apple under their App Store terms. Refunds are requested through Apple, not through us.

Acceptable use

Use TextCalc however suits you, with one set of exceptions: do not attempt to reverse-engineer the app to remove the paywall, do not redistribute it, and do not submit fraudulent App Store refund claims to obtain Pro for free. Doing so may result in revocation of any granted access.

No warranty

TextCalc is provided as-is. The math evaluator, unit conversions, and currency rates are intended to be useful for everyday calculations. They are not certified for accounting, scientific, medical, financial, or engineering decisions. Verify any number that matters before acting on it.

Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, TextCalc and its developer are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the app. Total liability is capped at the amount you paid for TextCalc in the prior twelve months, which, for most users, is $5.99 or zero.

Termination

You can stop using TextCalc at any time by deleting the app from your devices. We may revoke access in cases of abuse described under Acceptable use.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the developer's jurisdiction, without prejudice to mandatory consumer protection rights in your country of residence.

Changes

If these terms change in a way that affects you, the effective date above is updated and a notice is posted on this page. Continuing to use TextCalc after that constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
